Tonight is the best time to look back over the last year. We had so many highs and lows and many firsts for me. All around it was one of the tougher years but also one of my favorites so far.
What happened in 2009
Austin (and I) took our very first ski lessons and both really enjoyed ourselves.
I read many eye opening and "out of my box" books ( this had been a goal of mine for 2009 to read more and be a little more open minded)
Had my first root canal - not a highlight of the year - or my life !
Spent Spring Break with the kids in San Diego and Los Angeles. We loved every second of that vacation and didn't get enough time in San Diego. I must get back there soon !
Took Ella for her first visit to an American Girl store
Took Austin to see Phantom of the Opera and Wicked - he loved both
Austin started 7th grade and Ella started Kindergarten
My persian Mr Snuffles died
My bird Stanley died
Our Golden Retriever Chandler has been diagnosed with lymphoma
Bought our King Charles puppy Hannah
Had the opportunity to spend the night at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science with Austin
Took my first European trip. Was able to visit various places in Germany and Paris, France
Daniel returned home from his deployment
We bought our first home
Drove right through the middle of a tornado and was thankful for only a bruised up car
Got to visit Tucson and have a mini getaway
Have still not given up on this blog
Celebrated my 7th anniversary at my work
Visited Disney World in December for a family Christmas gift
Volunteered for the Colorado AIDS project ( after wanting to do this for a couple of years - I FINALLY signed up!!)
My wishes for 2010
My family will continue to be healthy
Spend more quality time as a family
To read even more this year
To make our new house more of a home for us to enjoy our time together
Continue to blog
Spend less and save more
This little paragraph has some great advice for all of us to take in 2010.
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.
